HUNTINGTON – Mayor Steve Williams announced Tuesday, June 8, that Huntington Police Chief Ray Cornwell will retire, effective July 2, 2021 after 25 years of service to the citizens of Huntington.

The City of Huntington will encourage litter abatement year-round with a new program. The city will launch a new Litter Support Program in an effort to give back to the community. The city has allocated some of the funding provided by the 150th Anniversary Fund to support this initiative. These funds covered the cost of ordering 200 litter sticks, 250 pairs of gloves sourced locally from General Building Supply and 10,000 garbage bags.

HUNTINGTON – Spring paving in Huntington will begin in the near future.
Paving usually occurs in the fall and spring in Huntington. This past fall, paving projects totaling 4.04 miles that cost $950,000 were completed. This spring, approximately $1.15 million in paving projects will be completed, bringing the 2021 fiscal year total spending on paving to $2.1 million.
