Underpass Project to Resume Monday, April 5
The Huntington Sanitary Board will resume work Monday, April 5, on a project that is expected to reduce flooding in the 8th and 10th Street underpasses.
The Sanitary Board started the $1,461,192 project, which is approximately 50 percent complete, last summer. It had been waiting for approval from CSX to install drainage pumps in the underpasses.
On March 29, electronic message boards announcing the closure of the 8th Street underpass were placed on both sides of the underpass. It will be closed to traffic Monday, April 5, so construction can begin. The work is expected to take 30 days to complete. Pedestrian access will also be closed off in the underpass during construction.
Work in the 10th Street underpass will begin immediately following completion of the 8th Street underpass and also is expected to take 30 days to complete.
