COVID-19 Relief Package Extended for Residents, Businesses
Huntington City Council on Monday, Aug. 11, 2020, adopted two ordinances proposed by Mayor Steve Williams that will extend financial relief for residents and business owners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first ordinance will eliminate the $20 per month refuse fee for all residents for the months of July, August and September. Household garbage service will not be affected.
The second ordinance will eliminate the business and occupation tax for retail shops and restaurants for the months of July, August and September.
In late March, Mayor Williams proposed and City Council unanimously adopted ordinances eliminating the refuse fee for all residents and the B&O tax for retail shops and restaurants for the months of April, May and June.
Anyone who has paid taxes or fees for these months will have a credit applied to their account unless they have a past due balance.
