touring Huntington
Central City
Welcome to Old Central City , the main business
street on the West End of Huntington. It is located on Fourteenth
Street West. It is no wonder that Old Central City is known
as the "Antique Capital of West Virginia," with approximately
eleven antique shops lining Fourteenth Street West between Washington
and Madison Avenues and with many other antique shops in the
general area. Anything from nails and locks to fine jewelry
and furniture may be found in these shops.
Old
Central City sends us on a trip into the late 1800's
and early 1900's, when the "City Park" with the gazebo was used
for bands, public speakers, weddings and holiday events. The
Gazebo built and used today, for the same purposes, is located
at 556 West 14th Street. It is possible to rent the Gazebo for
your event or activity by calling (304) 525-1500.
Directly
across form the Gazebo is the Central City Market where you
can puchase deliciously fresh homegrown fruits and vegetables
from the Tri-State area farmers either inside at the "Cream
of the Crop" market (304) 522-4299 or in the rear outside at
the "Farmers Market."
Call (304) 525-1500 for information about the Farmers Market.
While visiting the market or park you may wish to visit the
other shops, businesses, restaurants and stores in the area. .
