The City of Huntington Fire Department operates from six stations strategically located throughout the city.  Along with the department’s impressive operational capabilities, it also provides other support services as well.  The City of Huntington Fire Department, Fire Prevention Bureau and Office of the City Fire Marshal offers fire code and building planning, fire code enforcement, fire cause and origin determination and public education.  In conjunction with the Huntington Professional Fire Fighters Association's Fire Safety House, thousands of school age children learn hands on how to conduct Exit Drills In The Home (E.D.I.T.H) and Stop Drop and Roll exercises each school year.  The Fire Safety House is also available for various events.  The Fire Safety House operates exclusively on the donations of area businesses and individuals.  To make a donation or to request the Fire Safety House please contact the City of Huntington Fire Department, Fire Prevention Bureau at (304) 696-5960.  Tours of Centennial Station are available to civic groups by appointment.  Please contact Kelly Hearn, Fire Administrative Secretary at (304) 696-5950.

The Huntington-Metro Arson Task Force is also located inside the Fire Prevention Bureau and is headed by the City Fire Marshal in conjunction with the Huntington Police Department.  By sharing arson information the City Fire Marshal as well as surrounding fire and police departments are better equipped to investigate, apprehend and convict those responsible for incendiary fires.  Deputy Fire Marshals enforce city fire code and inspect structures within the city limits.  Their duties also include enforcement of fire lane violations and assisting the City Fire Marshal with cause and origin analysis as well as police with arson investigations. The Fire Prevention Bureau also works closely with the City of Huntington’s building inspectors to ensure that all new construction and renovations within the city are fire safe according to the fire code.
